Key route
Treat Templar keys as chain progress
Templar key checks are strongest when grouped with story context, location cleanup, and unlock progress.
- Confirm the current key or hunt step before leaving the region.
- Search the location name in Map and Locations.
- Pair nearby collectibles with the key route.
- Open Walkthrough if a memory or objective gates progress.
Hunt state check
Find the missing link before crossing the Caribbean
A Templar hunt has several separate proof points: the active objective, the live target marker, the key added to inventory, and any hideout reward interaction. Use the first missing proof to choose the next trip; reaching a familiar island does not prove the chain advanced.
| What the save shows | Next check | Do not assume |
|---|---|---|
| The hunt objective is not active | Open the current memory or hunt board and finish its stated prerequisite before searching the target region. | An old location note does not establish that the hunt is unlocked in this save. |
| The hunt is active, but no target is clear | Read the live objective and map marker together; use the named place to open the matching location route. | A location name or coordinate alone is not proof that the active target is there. |
| The interaction happened, but the chain looks unchanged | Check key inventory and the objective/counter before leaving; if neither advanced, keep the pickup unresolved. | Reaching or interacting with a marker does not prove the key was added. |
| The key set appears complete, but Templar Armor is not recorded | Return to Great Inagua's hideout, inspect the armor interaction, then verify the outfit state in the save. | A completed hunt set and the armor unlock are separate states. |
| The armor is recorded | Return to the hunt list only for a named key or objective still shown as incomplete. | Do not resweep every island just because a regional collectible counter is unfinished. |
Key-chain recovery
Find out whether the blocker is a hunt step, a place, or the reward
A key route should stay attached to its named hunt or mission, not be treated as an isolated map dot. Before crossing the Caribbean for another possible key, separate three states: the target step is not active, the target is active but access is wrong, or the interaction completed but the key or reward is not visible in the save.
| State | Check first | Do next |
|---|---|---|
| The expected key marker is absent | Current hunt or memory objective | Finish the prerequisite or open the named memory before searching the island |
| The target is present but unreachable | City, island, restricted-area, or mission access | Use Map and Locations to find the right entry rather than guessing a coordinate |
| The interaction happened but progress is unclear | Key inventory and linked reward progress | Keep the step partial until both the pickup and chain state agree |
| An older route names a different stop | Current-build objective and marker | Keep the old stop as a hint and follow the live chain |
